The Senior CAD Designer – Public Works will support the planning, design, and production of public infrastructure projects while serving as a technical resource and mentor for CAD staff. This individual will be responsible for preparing high-quality construction documents and coordinating closely with engineering teams to ensure project deliverables are completed efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop detailed engineering plans and construction documents for public works projects
- Develop roadway, drainage, water, wastewater, grading, and utility layouts utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure design intent and project requirements are met
- Assist with QA/QC reviews and ensure compliance with company drafting standards and agency requirements
- Support project schedules and production deadlines
- Mentor and assist junior CAD designers and technical staff
- Coordinate with surveyors, utility providers, and subconsultants as needed
- Maintain organized project files and documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years of CAD design experience in public works or civil engineering projects
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of public works design standards and construction plan preparation
- Ability to interpret engineering calculations, sketches, and markups
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
